The photos in Raw Trophies: Grotesque Nature on Display explore the meaning behind the phrase “we are what we eat.”  This series asks:  In what way does taxidermy measure the “need for meat”, the consumption of, and the waste of an American society? Humans consume meat without even thinking about where it came from or what the meat once was.  The photographs to the left are raw cuts of meat displayed with taxidermy to represent the carnivorous idolization of animals by humans. The images on the right show distinct beauty and markings of the animals exterior through a macro lens.
